Getting Started

Life CAN be better for you.

Therapy is a time, financial, and emotional commitment. At times, within therapy, it can feel worse before it feels better.

But… guess what? Life can feel more joyful after one has learned healthier ways to deal with stressors, symptoms, and other unexpected bumps in the road. It is an investment in you. And you are worthy.

How long does therapy take?

Therapy is not forever. My belief is that therapy is another tool for us, another resource, to utilize at different times in our life. It is an investment into our overall well-being.

Imagine you make that first call and come into the office. You have a safe and non-judgmental space to explore what you have been experiencing. This can range from depression, anxiety, life transitions, self-harming behaviors, work, relationships, and countless other challenges with which we might be faced.

Let’s get acquainted.

Next, I get to know you. We build a trusting therapeutic relationship. I create a safe, unique space for you where you feel comfortable. I let you know what I am observing based on my clinical experience, and we talk.

Then, I introduce you to new coping skills. Healthier ways to manage some of the emotions or thoughts you are experiencing. You try them in between sessions and let me know how they worked – or how they did not work. We adjust them until they work for you.

Therapy is a process. We talk about habits, ways these are created, and ways to “retrain your brain.”
Some of the skills we may be working on include your ability to regulate emotions and express them in healthier ways. We may focus on how you communicate with others by setting boundaries and learning to be more assertive.

Other areas of focus may be to reduce anxiety or depressive symptoms and find alternative behaviors. Undoubtedly, we will explore past relationships by looking at obsessive and intrusive thoughts that change your mood and interfere.

We go a little deeper. I assess your ability to cope with diving into the raw and at times painful stories, and I work with you around what comes up. The ups and the downs. They are all safe in the room. You have an ally.

I help you in connecting the dots, completing the puzzle, and finding the path that works best for you and your future.

You leave with tools.

Individuals who have worked with me tend to have more tools to deal with life. It does change someone; it changes how we interact with each other. That is amazing.

From my experience, folks tend to be hesitant in making that first call, understandably so. I am still a stranger until you come into the office. That is okay. Let’s talk about it in a free 20-minute phone consultation.

Individuals I work with tend to feel more confident. Regulate emotions in healthier ways. Identify their thoughts and change them.
This is an opportunity for change.
